Justa Lake Nahargarh

When we stayed for a long time at my in-laws’ place in Kota, we were pretty busy visiting relatives and doing lots of things. We felt like we needed a break, so we wanted to go somewhere nice to relax for a bit. My friend from school told me about Justa Nahargarh, so I thought it sounded like a good place to stay, and we decided to book it.

Making Gune and Celebrating Gangaur

Gune is a traditional sweet snack made during the Gangaur festival in some states of North India. It’s the main sweet offered to Goddess Parvati during the Gangaur prayer. Usually, it’s made with refined wheat flour and white sugar, but I like wheat flour and sugar/jaggery. I learnt about this recipe from my mother-in-law after getting married.

A few hours in and around Kota during Monsoon

We parked the car 200 meters away from the bridge and rain showers added a thrill to the experience. Walking to the bridge in a shared umbrella, I ran out of words on getting the first glimpse of the Kota barrage. The waves in the water were monstrous and gigantic.
