Coliving and Coworking In The Himalayas

Are you bouncing from one fancy hotel to another, or maybe you’re trying to get some work done in a bustling hostel, but something just feels… off. One day, the Wi-Fi is as reliable as a leaky faucet, the next, you’ve got people interrupting you left and right, and don’t even get me started on the hit-or-miss food situation. In any case, getting some office work done? Not happening.

I have a recommendation for you 🙂

I stumbled upon Alt Space, located in Thehr, Khanyara Valley, and spent two weeks here. Not only could I work in peace, but I could also enjoy the view of the Dhauladar range. It’s a genuine and unsponsored opinion, so there’s no need to worry!

Here’s a list of essentials for working from the mountains

Internet – Let’s face it, in today’s world, wifi is practically important for productivity, right? Well, at Alt Space, they’ve got you covered with blazing-fast wifi and a handy power backup in the coworking area. So, even if the power decides to take a little vacation in the mountains, your work won’t skip a beat. Because hey, the business must go on, right 🙂

Now, onto the next important thing – Fooood – Nikhil bhai ji and Abhishek bhai ji whip up hot, delicious meals three times a day that strike the perfect balance of flavours – ideal for folks hailing from all corners of the country, and even the world! Just ask the software developer I met—he’s practically singing praises about how the food here agrees with him. The food situation is totally sorted here.

Just when the skies opened up with a downpour of rain, our in-home chefs surprised us with a delightful treat—jalebis! It’s moments like these that make this place feel like home.

Coworking space – Simple, yet stunningly beautiful. There are two spacious work areas where you can plug in and get stuff done without feeling like a lone wolf. Plus, there’s a cozy recreational space where you can unwind with a movie, catch a cricket match, or even indulge in some board games. Throughout the day, you’ll hear the melodious chirping of birds.

Oh, and did I mention the rooms? Clean, comfy, and each one comes with its own dedicated workspace. But here’s the best part – from your desk, you’ll have breathtaking views of mountains or lush green fields. Working in harmony with nature.

But wait, there’s more. The property has ample open spaces and a charming sit-out area where you can take a post-lunch stroll or simply soak in the stunning views.

And let’s not forget about the sights to see during your stay. Whether you’re looking to explore the local gems right here or venture out to popular spots like Dharmkot and Mcleodganj, everything’s close. Just ring up for a cab, and they’ll drop you to your destination.

Last but certainly not least, the co-founders of Alt Space are always ready with a friendly smile and helpful advice, they’ve truly crafted something special here. I mean, just think about it—a cozy two-storied mudhouse where remote workers, digital nomads, entrepreneurs, artists, and dreamers alike can come together, share ideas, and bask in the beauty of nature. That’s what we call a thoughtful Coliving and Coworking space.

If you’re tired of settling for less, Alt Space is where it’s at.

I personally liked Alt Space because it has a huge open area where you can walk, hold meetings, and play volleyball. Here are some more options for you to consider if they suit your requirements.

  • NomadGao in Dharamkot
  • AltLife in Dharamkot
  • Ghoomakad in Dharamshala

I’ll be back soon 🙂

    1. The cost is around ₹23,000 per month for a small room for two people, including food.
Rates can vary depending on the season, so it’s best to check their website for the most accurate and updated pricing.
