Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan. It was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who was the king of the nearby town, Amer. He planned Jaipur carefully with wide roads and organized markets, which were very modern for that time. Later, many buildings in the city were painted pink to welcome the Prince of Wales in 1876, and since then Jaipur has also been known as the Pink City. Today, it is famous for its forts, palaces, culture, and vibrant bazars.

Khadakwasla Dam by Bicycle: Scenic Views & Ice-Gola Cravings

After wrapping up work a little early, I didn’t feel like staying cooped up at home. So, I hopped on my bicycle to chase the golden hour glow and set off toward Khadakwasla. It was around 8.8 km from my place on one side. I didn’t take many breaks. Just kept pedaling with one thought in mind – I hope I make it before sunset.

Making Gune and Celebrating Gangaur

Gune is a traditional sweet snack made during the Gangaur festival in some states of North India. It’s the main sweet offered to Goddess Parvati during the Gangaur prayer. Usually, it’s made with refined wheat flour and white sugar, but I like wheat flour and sugar/jaggery. I learnt about this recipe from my mother-in-law after getting married.

A Summer Trip to Nilgiris Mountains – Ooty, Coonoor, and Coimbatore

Ooty is called the Queen of Hill Stations because it’s so pretty, with old-fashioned charm and amazing views. Coonoor is quieter but just as lovely, with hills and valleys covered in mist. Whether we were exploring botanical gardens, savoring freshly brewed tea, going on nature walks or driving through winding roads that snake through lush greenery – we had wonderful time in hills.
