Hello, beautiful Mama 🙂

If you’re on the final stretch of pregnancy, one of the best things you can do to stay prepared is to pack your hospital bag in advance. I packed mine at the beginning of the 9th month, and I’m so glad I did. I had to rush to the hospital 14 days early, and having my hospital bag ready saved me from the last-minute stress. All I had to do was grab the bag and go! I was so grateful to my past self for being prepared. Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference.
In this post, I’m sharing exactly what I packed, not just for myself, but also for my baby and my partner. Here’s everything that made it into my bag and why. I hope it helps you feel more ready and relaxed as you prepare to meet your little one!
Let’s pack!
For Mother
- ID proofs, insurance papers, passport-size photograph, and hospital file – Very Important!
- Maternity dresses – Most hospitals will provide you with gowns during your stay, especially for labor and immediate post-delivery. However, it’s a good idea to pack 2 comfortable, feeding-friendly outfits of your own, preferably soft nightwear or maternity dresses. Choose clothes that are loose, breathable, and nursing-accessible for ease and comfort.
- Comfortable undergarments + Nursing bras
- Toiletries – toothbrush, face wash, hair tie, lip balm, etc.
- Heavy-duty sanitary pads/maternity pads
- Slippers and socks
- Phone + charger (long cable!)
- Hairbrush, light moisturizer, wet wipes
- Going-home outfit (loose and comfy!)
- Snacks and a water bottle
For Baby
- 5-6 soft baby onesies / Jhablas
- 4-5 muslin clothes
- Cap, mittens, socks
- 5-6 Swaddle
- Diapers, baby wipes
- Baby langot
- A baby towel
- Baby moisturizer and rash cream –
- Coconut Oil – In case there is any rash.
- Going-home outfit, adorable but comfy.
For Husband
- 4-5 pairs of clothes
- Toiletries – Tooth brush, tooth paste, hair comb, moisturizer, soap, shampoo, facewash, facecream, lip balm, towel,
- Mobile and a charger
- ID and cash/cards
For Parents / In-Laws (if staying or supporting)
- 4-5 pairs of comfortable clothing
- Toiletries (basic set)
- Light snacks, fruits
- Water bottle/thermos
- Any personal medication
- Charger for the phone
That’s everything I managed to pack in my hospital bag. If you’re a fellow mommy, let me know what essentials you packed that I might have missed!
