Embarking on a journey to Andaman was an experience that held immense significance for me, being my honeymoon trip with my partner. The destination is not only a serene and picturesque heaven but also offers a rich historical backdrop, particularly in Port Blair and its surrounding islands.
Port Blair, the primary gateway to Andaman, effortlessly transports you back in time, unraveling the historical tapestry of India. Must-visit places in Port Blair include the Cellular Jail, Ross Island, Flag Point, Marina Park, and the Corbyns Cove Beach. On the other islands, a tranquil and scenic ambiance awaits, providing the perfect setting to create lasting memories with your loved ones.
Though our stay lasted for 7 days, 5 days are ample to explore the wonders of Andaman. We chose to visit in the second week of December, enjoying generally mild temperatures. However, the unpredictability of the weather became apparent when a sudden downpour surprised us at Radhanagar Beach in Havelock Island. Locals informed us that the island’s climate can change abruptly, emphasizing the importance of being prepared.
Our journey commenced in Port Blair, which boasts a single airport. Flights are available from Hyderabad and Bangalore, with approximately a 2-hour travel time. We spent a day exploring the city, witnessing a breathtaking sunset at Corbyns Cove Beach and taking a leisurely stroll near Marina Park, where sunsets occur around 4:50 pm.
You can hop between Islands by Jetty/Ferry. For those prone to motion sickness, booking middle seats on the jetty is advisable. Nautika, Green Ocean and Makruzz are the Ferry Service providers. You can book it online prior to your visit.
I meticulously planned our itinerary, and I’m delighted to share it with you.
