Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan. It was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who was the king of the nearby town, Amer. He planned Jaipur carefully with wide roads and organized markets, which were very modern for that time. Later, many buildings in the city were painted pink to welcome the Prince of Wales in 1876, and since then Jaipur has also been known as the Pink City. Today, it is famous for its forts, palaces, culture, and vibrant bazars.

When we stayed for a long time at my in-laws’ place in Kota, we were pretty busy visiting relatives and doing lots of things. We felt like we needed a break, so we wanted to go somewhere nice to relax for a bit.
