I have been living in Pune for the last eight years. Exploring the city’s local markets has always been on my bucket list. Over the years, I have visited places like Laxmi Road and FC Road, but MG Road somehow remained unchecked.
Last Saturday, my sister and I finally decided to change that.
We reached MG Road around 11:30 in the morning. The market was already buzzing with shoppers and almost every shop had opened for the day.
There was something cheerful about the place from the very first glance. Shop signs hung above narrow walkways. Mannequins stood patiently behind glass windows dressed in the latest fashion. Families wandered from store to store. College students compared earrings and handbags. The whole market seemed to move at its own unhurried pace. As we walked through the lanes, taking it all in I felt a familiar regret that often comes when you discover a lovely place too late. We looked at each other and said the same thing –
Why didn’t we come here earlier?
MG Road in Camp is one of Pune’s oldest and most loved shopping destinations. What makes it special is the variety. You will find branded stores alongside small independent shops. There are shopping complexes like Clover Centre and Wonderland where you can spend hours browsing through clothes, jewellery, bags, accessories and much more. The area has been a shopping hub for generations and continues to attract locals and visitors alike.
Places You Shouldn’t Miss at MG Road Pune
- Wonderland – The kind of place where you walk in for one shop and end up exploring dozens.
- Clover Centre – A treasure trove of affordable fashion, jewellery and unexpected finds.
- Fashion Street – Perfect for bargain hunters looking for bags, footwear and trendy accessories.
- SGS Mall – A welcome break from the market crowds with brands, cafés and air-conditioned comfort.
For anyone who loves jewellery, this place feels like a treasure hunt. Silver jewellery, oxidised pieces, trendy earrings, necklaces and bracelets are available in countless designs. The clothing options are equally impressive. Whether you are looking for casual dresses, festive outfits or everyday fashion, there is something for every style and budget.
One thing I particularly loved was that much of the shopping happens indoors. On a hot summer day, you can comfortably move from one shop to another without constantly being under the sun.

By the end of our visit, we had picked up dresses, jewellery, and a few other things from Clover center. The best part was that everything felt reasonably priced and worth the money. After shopping, we stopped for a simple lunch of uttapam and a refreshing glass of nimbu pani. It was the perfect way to end the afternoon. Sometimes the best places are right in your own city, and yet it takes years to visit them. MG Road turned out to be one of those places for me.
If you enjoy local markets, good bargains, and spending hours discovering hidden finds, then MG Road deserves a spot on your Pune list.
