After my marriage, during one of my morning rides into Kota city, I noticed something that instantly caught my attention. The streets were full of small breakfast stalls selling poha, bread pakoras, samosas, jalebis, and more. Some stalls were tiny, some were bigger, but size did not matter. What mattered was that almost everyone seemed to be buying kachoris either to eat right there or to pack for their families at home. What surprised me even more were the long queues outside the famous kachori shops. People were patiently waiting, chatting, and happily eating hot kachoris on the spot. Right in front of my eyes, trays of kachoris were getting sold within minutes. I became so curious that I knew I had to try them. During my stay in Kota, I tasted kachoris from many different shops and here is a list for all of you. If you ever visit Kota, do try them from whichever shop is closest to you.

- Dal Kachori at Ratan Kachori Sweets and Namkeens, Nayapura
- Kachori at Jai Ambe Namkeen and Kachori, Mahaveer Nagar III Circle – The small-sized hing kachori is one of those kachori you simply cannot stop at one. Because they are smaller in size, you feel tempted to have just one more until you suddenly realize you have eaten several without even noticing. 🙂
- Hing dal kachori at Suwalal Ji Ki Kachori in Talwandi comes from one of the oldest and most respected kachori makers in Kota. This shop is famous for its authentic taste and long history and many people say that the term Kota Kachori became popular because of this family. They belong to the original Suwalal Ji lineage who started making kachoris in the city many years ago. Their main shop is still located in Thhathera Gali, Rampura Bazaar in the old city area.
- Pyaaz Kachori at Jodhpur Namkeen, Gumanpura
- Kadhi kachori at Krishna Namkeen near CAD Circle is something I especially loved on cold winter mornings and even more when it was raining.
- Kachoris at Jodhpur Sweets, Nayapura
Many other small shops across Kota serve equally delicious kachoris, but it is difficult to mention all of them in one blog.
If you have tried kachoris in Kota, I would love to know which shop is your favourite. Do you have any local recommendations that I should try next? Please share them. I am always excited to discover new places and tastes
